Morandini's work appears to lean towards the accuracy and clarity of the formal result. His work indifferently touches the fields of sculpture, architecture and design; it is the skills - as well as the intellectual reflections - matured in each of them that define the characteristics of a style that has long been considered peculiar and immediately recognizable. Refined interpreter of formalist thought, sensitive to the inheritance of constructivist and concretist currents, Morandini has appeared on several occasions to look at kinetic visual research, especially when his modular progressions have given rise to spiral movements and refined optical effects. From the first solo show hosted in the Galleria del Deposito in Genoa in 1965, curated by Germano Celant, to participation in exhibitions such as the Venice Biennale and Documenta, up to collaborations with international architectural firms and companies operating in the design field, Morandini does has never stopped reinventing flat and solid geometry, in order to verify ever new perceptual and constructive hypotheses. Made, like many other sculptures by the artist, in lacquered wood, marked by the contrast of white and black - the only colors, besides gray, to be involved in his work - Project n.340 appears as a personal meditation on the theme of the square , whose perimeter echoes obliquely between the lines of the composition and describes, in the center of the same, a portion of emptiness.
